Cathy Kotchea

Cathy, born in Fort Nelson, BC with South Slavey roots, lives in Fort Liard, NT with her family. Raised amidst a tradition of crafting birchbark baskets and moosehide products, she has become a registered Indigenous artist committed to preserving and promoting her cultural heritage through art. With her mother's guidance, Cathy has honed the skill of tanning hides. Her artwork, a testament to her dedication to cultural preservation, is featured in galleries throughout NT, BC, Alberta, social media, and several U.S. museums.
